Shortcuts: You can also deal by selecting Deal from the Play menu, or by typing ⌘D, or by pressing Tab.
The deck (also called the "hand") looks like a face-down card, but it has a number displayed in a small white rectangle. The number is either the number of cards in the deck or the number of deals remaining, depending on the game.
The deck, enabled and disabled.
The deck is disabled when the game rules don’t allow dealing. The disabled deck looks different from the enabled deck: usually it is darker, but there may also be thematic differences appropriate to the cardback art you have chosen. (In the example above, the enabled deck shows the café scene lighted and populated; in the disabled deck, it is darker and empty of people.)
See Décor: Window and Card Art for more information on selecting card artwork.
